From Parking Lot to Permanent Housing: MCH’s Journey Towards Transforming Communities

Updated: Aug 7

In spring 2025, the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless will take a significant step towards creating long-term housing solutions by beginning the construction of 40 units of permanent supportive housing. MCH has identified one of the parking lots acquired with its headquarters in the City of Lynn, to be transformed into a residential building that will house unsheltered individuals.

With a generous grant from the Massachusetts Alliance for Supportive Housing (MASH), over the past year the agency has embarked on this journey, partnering with Commonwealth Land Trust (CLT) which will be breaking ground to construct low-income housing units. Through this partnership all the work regarding the predevelopment phase of this project has been completed, allowing MCH to continue enhancing our mission by bringing to reality a project that exemplifies our commitment to addressing the housing needs of those living in poverty.
