Please register today for Legislative Action Day 2023, taking place online on Thursday, March 2nd, 9:30-11:30 a.m. This year’s Legislative Action Day (LAD) event will be sponsored by State Representative Jim O’Day.

For Legislative Action Day, look forward to hearing from inspiring speakers, learning how to advocate with legislators, and meeting virtually or in-person with your state legislators and legislative staff to talk about issues and policy recommendations to address homelessness in Massachusetts.

During the event, we will focus on the Coalition’s 2023-2024 legislative (bill) priorities and fiscal year 2024 budget priorities. Read about our  priorities here: bill priority overview (PDF), bill priority chart, and FY24 budget priority overview (PDF).

(Many of our FY24 budget priorities also are outlined in our December 2022 letter to Governor Healey and her transition team.)

Event Registration

Registration is quick, easy, and free. Register now for LAD. The Zoom link will be sent to all registrants closer to the event date.

Meeting with Legislative Offices

Meeting virtually or in-person with legislative offices is a key part of the event. Just indicate on your registration form if you need help setting up meetings with your legislators, and we will work to set up appointments for you.  During the meetings, pick a few of our priorities that are most important to you and let legislators and staff know why. Here are some other tips for meeting with legislators and State House staff. After meeting with legislators and their staff, please fill out this online form to share feedback with us.

Pre-Event Training
Join us on Monday, February 27th from 1–2 p.m. for a pre-event training to prepare for Legislative Action Day. Like LAD, the pre-event training also will take place on Zoom.
The training will include an overview of our Legislative Action Day agenda, helpful hints about meeting with legislators and their aides, a review and discussion of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless budget and bill priorities, and a question and answer session.
Spread the Word
Help spread the word by sharing the link to this page: Invite your state legislators by sharing this flyer.  Unsure who your legislators are? If you have an address, enter it in this tool from the  Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office.
